As some of you know, I have a new book coming out that deals with addiction, and overcoming objections to God. Its a book about grace. I briefly address some of the concepts you’ll find in my book in this recent podcast.
“The concept of having a Higher Power shouldn’t trigger people of faith, clergy, or theologians to balk merely because the term Higher Power doesn’t sit well with them. What many people fail to understand is that it takes a radical level of trust for someone who feels unworthy of the grace that so many people of faith enjoy, without feeling an ounce of shame. So when a person of faith makes an unqualified judgement about the term Higher Power, and deliberately misunderstands and misrepresents it as a transformational concept, they do more damage that harms a person who has no self-worth to begin with. It’s a miracle when a shame ridden human being who feels worthless and irredeemable, is able to acknowledge their need for God. If you want to hear how these ideas transformed my life and my faith, listen to Episode 2 of the Higher Power Recovery Podcast. The episode I’m featured in is titled, ‘A Dusty Disciple.’”
